Amath Fall at Priscilla’s is wearing Shirt and Jacket - Song for the Mute

THE _________ BETWEEN

Fashion often asks us to arrive complete. Certain. Already decided.

But what if there is something in between?

body becoming.
An identity still in discovery.
Something raw. Undefined. Unfinished.

The construction is not concealed, but left exposed.

This series calls for moments threaded with texture, lingering somewhere at the fringe.

Paper backdrops hold their creases. Stories gather in them. Timber remains visible. Imperfect walls refuse to disappear.

The room reveals itself.

Nothing is fixed.                                                                                      Nothing is finished.

Impermanence becomes the only reliable thing in the narrative.

The space is an extension of the body.

A garment reaches beyond it,

extending into a space of temporality. Vulnerable. Ever-shifting.

Fabric becomes a guide, a kind of architecture of its own. It creates scaffolding -

something to lean into, to move through, to trust to carry the body onwards.

The garment does not simply inhabit the space.

It teaches the body how to occupy it.

Oversized proportions alter posture. Sculptural silhouettes distort movement. Clothing becomes an instrument for becoming someone else, or perhaps for finding the self that was already there.

The movements are restrained.

A shoulder turns.
A hand pauses.
Something almost happens.

Tension lives in the smallest gestures.

There is a quiet dialogue between body and space. Certain moments become overloaded, suddenly decisive, something instinctive takes hold.

Light behaves similarly.

It reveals without explaining. Shadows conceal as much as they disclose. Darkness is not an absence, but a presence. A place for uncertainty. For things that refuse to be named.

A deep crimson interrupts the muted landscape.

Stillness gives way to a cold blue.

The body is traced in silver.

A flash of memory.

 Desire. Fracture. Stillness.

Then disappearance.

What remains is the feeling of having witnessed something without ever fully understanding it.

Perhaps that is where the image begins.
